Pirates of the Caribbean "Barbossa is Hungry"

The score for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl simply ROCKS. Fantastic, fun, swashbuckling songwriting coupled with the sonic masterminds at Remote Control Productions. The stereo soundtrack is actually kinda mixed like a modern rock song, the waveform looks loud and squashed lol (fun fact, listen to “One Last Shot” between 3:30-3:34 and you can hear clipping!) From the “Barbossa is Hungry” clip I’m sharing here, starting at 1:50, listen to how awesome everything is balanced. The pounding drum and shaker aren’t overly loud, but instead at a healthy level. The orchestra is the star and it surrounds you. Most of the music released by Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer and his fellow composers in Santa Monica - it sounds exceptionally full because what they do is subtly blend sample instruments with their live recordings. So for example, they might blend in sample cellos at about 10%-15% of what the live-recorded cellos are at. Enough so that you can’t HEAR the sample cellos, but you can subtly FEEL them. Creating fullness.
